Standard Tuning Service ($100.00)*
Services, Rates & Service Area
Repair Service ($60.00/hr.)
Professional, precise tuning completed entirely by a well-trained, expert ear without the use of electronic tuners or computers. Unless otherwise noted or requested by the customer, all instruments will be tuned to standard concert pitch (A440) using an equal temperament. This service will take roughly two (2) hours.
Your piano's longevity, superior performance, and quality of sound are dependent upon regular maintenance by a qualified piano technician. All piano manufacturers recommend yearly service as a minimum. However, the climate in New England often presents a need for more frequent service intervals due to extreme changes in humidity and temperature. Thus, we recommend 6-month service intervals as a general rule of thumb. This enables us to most effectively maintain your instrument's concert pitch and fine tuning while also addressing other potential issues (e.g. necessary adjustments, repairs, etc.).
While we take this maintenance schedule seriously, we also take care to provide our customers with superior service and a personal touch. We strive to understand our customers' unique needs, and we utilize that understanding to provide personalized, cost effective services that will help your piano last a lifetime.
All services are provided by appointment within the service area detailed below. All services are invoiced, and all prices are subject to change without notice:
Qualified, thorough repair services that are done correctly the first time. Repairs are often completed while on-site for other service, such as a tuning. This reduces costs and facilitates a more efficient use of time. Repair costs are billed to the nearest 15-minute interval with no minimum charge. Parts and materials not included.
A wide selection of new parts and accessories is available through our affiliates. Catalogs are available upon request. For used/salvage parts, the old parts must be collected to be used as a reference while searching for replacements. Please contact us for all pricing and details.
As always, we invite you to contact us by phone or e-mail if you have any additional questions that are not answered here. We will be very happy to help you. Again, we thank you for your interest in Yankee Piano Service!
Tuning with Pitch Raise/Lowering ($135.00)*
Occasionally, we encounter instruments in which the pitch is significantly lower or higher than concert pitch. Generally, as the pitch gets further away from concert pitch, additional time and tuning work are required to re-establish concert pitch. This service is the same as our standard tuning service, plus an additional fee to compensate for the additional time required. This pricing will be automatically applied in the event that a piano's pitch must be raised or lowered by one (1) half-step or more to achieve concert pitch.
Full payment is due when services are rendered, or within thirty (30) days of the date of service. Past due accounts will accrue a monthly service charge of $10.00. All major credit cards (e.g. American Express, Discover, Mastercard, and Visa), cash, and checks accepted. Please make checks payable to Yankee Piano Service, and remit to 10 Maple Drive, Auburn, MA 01501. Please do not mail cash.
Travel Fee: As shown below, our service area includes a 30-mile radius around Auburn, Massachusetts. If you reside outside of the area shown, our services are still available to you. However, a $25.00 fee will be applied for additional time and travel.
Returned Check Fee: Although we accept checks as a form of payment, a fee of $35.00 will be assessed for any checks that are returned unpaid.
Cancellation Fee: Our services are provided by appointment only. Thus, we kindly ask customers to provide at least 24-hour notice if an appointment cannot be kept for any reason. This enables us to schedule another appointment. A fee of $25.00 will be assessed for any appointments that are missed or canceled by the customer with less than 24-hour notice. Conversely, the customer will receive credit of $25.00 if an appointment is missed or canceled by Yankee Piano Service with less than 24-hour notice.
Cleaning Service ($75.00)
* Discounted pricing negotiable under special circumstances.
Please contact us for details.
Often, the inside of a piano collects dust and debris over time. In addition to being unsightly, this collection of dust and debris can actually darken a piano's tone, as it clings to the soundboard, strings, hammers, etc. While the best protection against this condition is a dust cover for your piano, we offer this optional cleaning service to our customers as an alternative. Upon the customer's request, we will carefully vacuum these areas to remove dust and debris as possible. We will even wipe down the woodwork while polishing the keytops and pedals!
Pre-Purchase Inspection ($100.00)
Purchasing a new or used piano can be a significant financial investment. We will carefully inspect the instrument(s) in which you may be interested and provide a detailed report so that you can purchase with confidence and peace of mind. Here's the best part: the fee for this service will be credited toward a later piano tuning or repair when you hire us to maintain your new instrument. In the end, it's free!
